A joyful attitude is the root of peace and harmony. Spiritual qualities such as loving-kindness, compassion, and happiness arise naturally when you relax. They are not outside of yourself and will inevitably manifest if you are at ease. In developing the capacity to release stress and change our disposition, we realize something very valuable for our own sake, as well as being of immense benefit for all other sentient beings. Without love and compassion, without joy and the ability to share, human beings are like dead trees.
