4. MOUNTAIN LAKE
Based on the Prayer for Swift Accomplishment of All Wishes, a terma text originally composed by Guru Rinpoche and discovered by Jigme Lingpa (1730-1798). For the benefit of future disciples, the prayer is a request to Padmasambhava to swiftly grant the utlimate goals of spiritual practice.
The Seven Wealths mentioned are faith, generosity, ethics, study of dharma, conscience, respect for others, and wisdom. As both the means of evolving-toward and natural qualities of the end state (Buddhahood), they are praised as invaluable gems on the path.
Variations of the Tibetan refrain are found in many Vajrayana prayers;
SAMPA NYUR DU DRUB PAR CHIN GYI LOB
- which Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche has translated as -
Grant blessings, that these wishes may be swiftly accompished!
